The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, early and continuous high-quality CPR, and high-performing teams. The course reflects science and education from the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

For healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response.

The BLS Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

In this Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

The AHA’s PEARS (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) Course is a classroom-based, Instructor-led course, where students learn how to use a systematic approach to quickly assess, recognize the cause, and stabilize a pediatric patient in an emergency situation.

The goal of the PEARS Provider Course is to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers in assessment, early recognition, prompt communication, and initial intervention in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics.

What This Course Teaches: 

  • Systematic pediatric assessment
  • Recognition and stabilization of respiratory emergencies
  • Recognition and stabilization of shock emergencies
  • Recognition and stabilization of cardiopulmonary arrest
  • Resuscitation team concept

Who Should Take This Course:

The AHA’s PEARS Course is designed for healthcare providers and others who might encounter pediatric emergency situations during their work, including:

  • Physicians and nurses not specializing in pediatrics
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Physician assistants
  • EMTs,
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Prehospital and in-facility healthcare providers (outside of critical-care areas)
  • Outpatient clinic staff
  • School-based providers
  • Any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill or injured infants and children

Course Completion Card: 

Students who successfully complete the PEARS Course will receive a PEARS Provider course completion card (print or eCard), valid for 2 years. Course completion requirements include:

  • Active participation in the case discussions
  • Active participation in the rescue breathing skills station and cardiac arrest case simulations
  • Pass the skills tests in 1- and 2-rescuer child BLS with AED and 1- and 2-rescuer infant BLS
  • Pass the video-based written exam with a minimum score of 84%

PALS is geared towards healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion eCard, valid for two years.

The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts. 

  • Includes realistic, clinical scenarios that encourage active participation – delivered through actual pediatric patient videos and lifelike simulations
  • Comprehensive and includes our systematic approach to assess and treat pediatric patients in emergency situations
  • Hands-on class format to reinforce skills proficiency
  • Co-branded with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

You will receive an email with a link to access the online videos and exam. You are also signing up for the date and time you are coming into Cardinal Medical Training to complete the Skills check-off portion. 

 

IMPORTANT!! Once you have completed the online portion of this course you will be issued a certificate of completion.  That is the certification that shows completion of the online portion, but that is NOT the Provider certification needed for employment. To be issued an eCard certification you will need to COME IN-PERSON to Cardinal Medical Training to your selected class time to complete this course. Please bring a printed copy of the course completion certificate to receive your eCard.

The Heartcode portion is a self-paced course that is accessible anytime and includes an online course link, skills practice and testing, convenient scheduling, same day AHA completion certification card, and automated renewal notice. Students can access the ACLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual, ACLS Pocket Reference Card and more for 24 months from the AHA login. 

You must complete the hands-on portion within  60 days of completing the online portion.

The AHA’s Heartsaver CPR AED course trains participants to provide CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

The AHA’s Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. This course is NOT for EMT, Paramedic, EMS students, RNs, CNAs, PAs, Physicians, or Dentists. Please see our Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course if you are a healthcare worker. BLS is the CPR certification for most Healthcare Providers not Heartsaver. 

What does this course teach?

  • Adult one and two-rescurer CPR 
  • Child and Infant one and two-rescurer CPR
  • Automated External Defibrilation (AED)
  • Foreign-body airway obstruction (choking)
  • Use of pocket mask and face shield 

This is a TWO (2) year certification course through the American Heart Association (AHA). We offer same day certification - eCards issued at the end of the course. You will receive your eCard certification from the American Heart Association after completing the training to the email you provided when you signed up. Effective January 2018, American Heart Association reccommends issuing only Electronic Cards. Paper cards are no longer reccommended. Here at Cardinal Medical Training we are always happy to print a copy of your card for you to have a hard copy after completing your class. You can download and save a digital copy of your eCard at your convience.

Instructor Alignment Fee – $100.00 (Annual)
To align as an American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor with Cardinal Medical Training, all new instructors are required to pay a yearly Instructor Alignment Fee of $100.00.

This fee covers:

  • Administrative processing of your alignment request
  • Verification of your instructor credentials and training records
  • Ongoing support from our Training Site team
  • Access to course scheduling, roster submission, and instructor resources

The alignment fee is renewed annually to maintain active instructor status with our Training Site. Instructors must remain current with AHA requirements and Cardinal Medical Training policies to continue teaching under our alignment.

The online portion must be completed prior to skills session. A certificate of completion must be presented to the Instructor in order to complete the Skills Session. Cardinal Medical Training will issue an AHA ACLS PROVIDER CERTIFICATION ISSUED UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of the skills check-off. 

Remember: If you complete a Heartcode corse it has two parts that must be completed before you can be issued an AHA eCard. The eCard is what employers require for employment. The online course completion certificate is NOT the eCard!!! You must complete both the online Heartcode and an in-person skills check-off to receive an eCard from AHA.

**REFUND POLICY** 

There are NO REFUNDS for E-product purchases such as (E-Books, Heartcode Courses, etc.). NO REFUNDS for cancelation; however,  we are able to reschedule without a fee for up to 60 days after the date of inital class registration. Class fees and transfer fees are non-refundable and no refunds will be issued once fees have been submitted. Class materials and supplies such as course manuals and textbooks, CPR masks and all other class supplies are non-refundable. NO SHOW-  Any student that arrives 15 minutes late to scheduled class will be considered a NO SHOW , will need to reschedule their course, and a $25 rescheduling fee will be assessed.

Any Chargebacks/ bounced checks will be accessed a return fee of $25.

 

Please do not attend any in-person event if you do not feel well, have had a recent exposure to COVID, or have had anyone in your household is under quarantine due to exposure.
